I was admitted to practice law in Massachusetts in 1995. After clerking for a federal judge, I began my practice with Bingham Dana and Gould, a leading Boston law firm. My practice, both with Bingham and my own firm, has focused on business and employment litigation and appellate practice. Noteworthy cases have included:

  • Obtained class-action settlement against national retail company for failure to pay time-and-a-half on Sundays and legal holidays.
  • Obtained six-figure settlement for unpaid commissions due to high-tech sales employee from his former employer.
  • Represented New England Patriots owner in dispute over control of property that now hosts Gillette Stadium.
  • Represented Harvard Business School Professor in defense of Microsoft Corp.'s efforts to compel the professor to reveal confidential tapes produced in his book on competition between Netscape and Microsoft.
  • Represented The Boston Globe in libel defense and protection of reporter's confidential sources.
  • Represented numerous individuals with claims against former employers for discrimination, breach of contract, bad faith termination, and violation of the Wage Act.
  • Represented executives enforcing contractual rights and negotiating severance packages.
  • Counseled employees concerning non-compete and non-disclosure agreements.
  • Represented businesses in breach of contract and fraud claims.
  • Represented individuals with claims against businesses for unfair and deceptive trade practices.

In addition to my law practice, I have taught at Boston College Law School since 1999, and taught at Harvard Law School from 2000 to 2005. My courses have focused on brief writing, oral advocacy, and negotiation. I have also published the following:
